This project was created as an assignment during my studies at Algonquin College. It is a fictional project that includes storyboard, character design, and location design based on The Horse and the Ass, an Aesop’s Fable. The horse from the original fable is represented by the electric floor cleaner, and the ass by the mop. The moral of the fable is that it is better to have humble security than to pursue gilded danger.
The project explores how embellished luxury can lead to misconceptions about the benefits of an idealistic lifestyle. The mop chooses to live a humble and modest life, providing security and stability without relying on electricity. The electric floor cleaner, however, becomes selfish and greedy, adopting a gilded lifestyle he believes to be idealistic. Overused and dependent on by humans, he faces great danger and dies tragically without electricity. The project was created using vector and pixel art, with tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop.
